Dental Implants are small titanium rods that are placed into your bone and allowed to become part of the bone or “osseointegrate”. After a period of osseintegration, usually around 3 months, the implants can be loaded with the supra structure to replace the missing dental components in your mouth. These can vary from a single tooth crown to a bridge off two or more implants or we can even have full mouth permanent replacements.
Dental implants can also be used to stabilise a full mouth denture. Two or more implants are placed with corresponding attachments into the denture so it can “click” into place. This is useful if you struggle tolerating a denture yet feel full mouth implants may be overwhelming for you.
